Research

RatnaKala Sithravel is interested in developing appropriate integrative indoor lighting that supports user behaviour, wellbeing outcomes, and energy efficiency for zero-carbon emission goals. She is currently involved in the Daylight and Occupancy Sensing Environments (DOSE) research project. More information about DOSE.

 

Biography

Ratna joined the Department of Construction Engineering and Lighting Science in January 2022 as a Postdoctoral fellow in Lighting Science. Ratna holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and a PhD in Architectural Studies from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). In Malaysia, she worked as a Senior Project Architect with the Architectural Network (tAN); besides being an independent researcher and educator, sharing her subject expertise on Therapeutic Design, Healthy Building and Lighting Design with several organisations. She believes innovation in design derives from simple, practical solutions that positively addresses complex, challenging issues - Less is more.
