International Communication (Two Years)

International Communication is a media and communication Master’s programme designed for students who are interested in deepening their knowledge about global and sustainable communication in different settings.

This Master’s programme is designed for students who want to deepen their knowledge within the field of Media and Communication and who wish to work in an international media and communications environment. The programme focuses on global, intercultural and sustainable communication in different settings, with substantial focus on journalism, environmental communication, as well as media discourse and representation. This international programme provides students with significant theoretical and methodological knowledge. After graduating, students may be interested in working for companies with communication tasks in an international environment, or to study on a doctoral level.

International Communication is offered as a 1-year (60 credits) and a 2-year (120 credits) programme. The 2-year programme is an extension of the 1-year programme, which gives students the opportunity to either study abroad at one of our partner universities for one semester or take eligible international courses offered at Jönköping University. Students of the 1-year programme write one thesis of 15 credits. Students of the 2-year programme write two theses of 15 credits each. After graduation


The Two Year programme gives you a Degree of Master of Social Science (120 credits) with a major in Media and Communications Science (masterexamen).

After graduating, students may be interested in working for organizations with a global focus or strategy, for example as communication experts, or in studying on a doctoral level.

Behörighet: The applicant must hold the minimum of a bachelor's degree (i.e. the equivalent of 180 ECTS credits at an accredited university) with at least 90 ECTS credits in media and communication studies, including independent, theoretical based work, i.e. a thesis or the equivalent. English 6/English B in the Swedish upper secondary school system or international equivalent.
Urval: Grupp 1: Examen om minst 180 hp. Rangordning sker efter antal avklarade poäng. Grupp 2: 150-179 hp. Rangordning sker efter antal avklarade poäng.
