Research

Using organizational theories Edward’s research focuses on strategy and management of the MNE. He pay’s particular attention to subsidiary development and formal and informal mechanisms that facilitate these processes. Since 2012 he has been developing his main area of expertise in subsidiary strategy and evolution, with a particular focus on physical and human resource utilization and combination processes.

Primary research areas:

Strategy and control in the MNE. 
Organizational charters.
Subsidiary evolution. 
Network theory.

 

Teaching

Currently, Edward is teaching on the International Management course at JIBS. His main teaching interests lie within the areas of international management, strategy and organization theory. Edward has previously taught at Mälardalen University (Sweden); Dundee University (Scotland) & Edinburgh University (Scotland).

 

Biography

Edward Gillmore is an Assistant Professor in Business Administration at JIBS. He defended his PhD at Mälardalen University (Sweden) in 2017, during this time he was also a PhD candidate at the Swedish Graduate Business School of Management and IT (MIT). Edward’s thesis was awarded the Strategic Research Foundation scholarship by the Strategic Management Society in 2015. Subsequently the research from his thesis has also received further awards from the Strategic Management Society. His work has been presented at International Business and Strategy conferences in the US, Europe and Asia. He has also had visiting positions at BI Norwegian Business School; Fox Business School, Temple university and Stanford University.
