Encell - the lifelong learning
Encell is a collaborative and network-based hub for research and knowledge development in the field of lifelong learning.
Our research is conducted from multiple perspectives, focusing on a variety of contexts and academic disciplines. We conceptualize our research environment as an overarching framework that encompasses adult lifelong learning across several domains, including workplaces and professional practices, the education system, guidance and counselling contexts, transitions between education and working life, professions, different stages of life (such as later-life learning), career development, and civil society.
Our research is organized into various collaborative nodes on lifelong learning:
- as a phenomenon
- as Bildung (liberal education/formation)
- in diverse contexts
- for different target groups
- for skills provision and organizational development
- within professions and occupations
- for social sustainability
Within these nodes, we collaborate in various ways with higher education institutions nationally and internationally, across the schools of Jönköping University, and within a range of national and international research networks. We are also part of the graduate schools Adult Learning and Folk High School Teacher Education.
