Spam e-mails circulate from time to time. They may appear to come from a colleague or a manager. They may ask you to buy things, or check out sensitive information. They may contain links with threats of account closure or promises of money.

How do I see that it is spam?

The easiest way to see that an email is spam is by looking at the sender's address. Do not look at the name from which the email was sent. Sometimes you get a warning from Outlook that the email appears to come from a known contact but that it is not certain, then it is extra important to check the email address.

You can also discover that it is spam by looking at spelling and grammar, a language use you do not recognize or an urgent call to do something.

What should I do?

Do not click on any links or open any attachments. Report the email as Junk or as Phishing via the menu Report Message which you will find at the top right of the opened email.

When you select Junk, the email will end up in the spam folder, when you select Phishing it will be deleted. In both cases, information is sent to Microsoft for analysis.
