It is important to be able to provide a form of identification, such as an ID card from the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket), to verify your identity.

The Tax Agency ID card is an approved form of identification within Sweden. You can use the ID card as proof of your age or identity when in contact with banks, the police, health care institutions etc. To apply for an ID card, you must be registered in the Swedish Population Register and have obtained a personal identity number. Important to add is that it may take a couple of weeks to get an ID card. Which makes it important to do this early in the process. Please note that persons with a co-ordination number cannot apply for the Tax Agency ID card.
