If you plan on staying in Sweden for less than 12 months, you may be eligible for a co-ordination number.

You can apply for a co-ordination number if the duration of your stay in Sweden is less than 12 months. The co-ordination number is an identification number allocated to persons who are not, or have not been, registered in the Swedish Population Register. It enables public authorities and other functions in society to verify a person’s identity, even if she/he is not registered in Sweden. In case a person registers in the population register at a later stage, the personal identity number will replace the co-ordination number.
